Sounds good!

It was a long and painful process to get the Nansen-class through Stortinget, and I fear a replacement for submarines will not be much better. If, indeed, a submarine force will be maintained in the future. Let's hope so.

It's hard to imagine the Norwegian navy without subs. For homeland defence, they are clearly the most potent naval weapon we have, a real threat that can inflict damage far beyond their own cost.

Re: The fidtjof Nansen frigates.

The ula class submarine is under constant upgrading. from 2006 up until 2010 all the subs will be getting new sonars and peroscops. and it will serve well beyond 2020, hopfully a new sub will be added to the submarine fleet around this time, but the ula class will be around to 2030. and Norway is cofounding the testing and building of the type 212 subs. (ula is type 208 if I dont remember wrong). the name for the class has been during testing the viking class. so it will probably be some sort variety of the type 212 that will be the new subs in The Royal Norewgian Navy. It will have hydrogen based Propulsion witch is very cool.

And Norway benefits very much from having a submarine fleet. as long as they are small and the crew trained for sailing submerged in shallow fjords were no other subs in the world follow us.

And when it comes to the Oslo class and you wanting a 3D model, I dont have one as of today, but I am a 3D animator(amateur) so I can see what I can do..:) I use 3D max, but I can also use maya, whatever you prefer. Will you need just the outside of the hull or do you need a detailed modelation of the inside of the ship as well?

Re: The fidtjof Nansen frigates.

Thanks for the info, Muffe. We're very happy to have so many really knowledgable people on this board already!

The Unity system can import just as well any format. We don't have any interior designs in our models, what you see in the sneak previews is basically what you'll get, except we'll fix them up a bit and use more time on kickass textures and shaders to make them much more lifelike. Our modeller-in-chief now uses Maya, but we have had stuff made in Max, too. We have good experience with importing obj format into Unity.

An old, honoured Oslo frigate  is unlikely to appear in the game missions, but all it takes is a workable 3D model and the specs in the database and they can be used in the game.

Re: The fidtjof Nansen frigates.

If you want any more info on the ula class, just ask.  I worked as a sonar operator, wepon technician and smokediver on the ula class so I have some knowledge about the boats. And I can see if I can put some time into making a oslo Class fregatt, it can be like some nostalgia unloock or something. hehe

will the suface ships and other subs have somewhat othentic sonar signatur witch you can listen to and "classify" by sound if you opperate a sub with manual sonar? or will stuff like that not be in the game? would be cool.

If I can help in any other way, just let me know.

PS.

The ula class sub, I asume it will be named S-300 Ula? but if I can affect that in any way I would really love for it to be the S-302 Utstein, as thats the boat I served on. hehe if you are using othentic names at al that is.
