Re: Maps/gameplay & multi

Yeah I know, but then it wouldn't be marked as a new post. And my new question deserved a new post I thought. Well, I don't like dobbelposting, and I hope this never happens again ;)

Another question regarding multiplayer. Will there be an option to spectate? And what about replays? I'm just thinking about the possibilities for "Machinima" and just storing the epic battlefights so that you later can gloat around your pnwd friends

Spectate: Hmm, no promises, but that could be feasible.

Recording game: You will get a detailed after-action report with all significant incidents, but actually recording everything going on... I doubt that makes it into version 1.0.

I agree it would be neat. "There goes your carrier. Muahaha!"

Re: Maps/gameplay & multi

Detailed report, what will that include? Boats sunk on your side and boats sunk by you and so on?

The game engine as it is now stores information about every detection (including change in detection status), every weapon launch and how much (if any) damage inflicted, orders and, well, just about everything :)

I suspect this is a bit more than most players would like to read, so some sensible filtering should be in place.

I think it will be interesting for players to know exactly the hit percentage of certain weapons, what the actual effective range of sensors are in the field, and so on.  agree it's more of a hardcore feature than cinematics which appeals to anyone, but this is a question of development resources. There is always Fraps :)

Ah, back to programming the scenario loader.

Re: Maps/gameplay & multi

Just store everything that is possible! But there should be different views. Advanced with everything, basic with some things and custom were you can choose what to display. But everything should be stored so that you can check each detail later, even though you just had basic view when it was recorded.
